Shiva Kudumbam

The ultimate symbol of Divine Love, prosperous family and universal harmony.

Lord Shiva is considered to be the epitome of an ideal family man. Lord Shiva and Shakthi are the two sides of the same divine coin, embodying a harmonious union in cosmic balance.

The Kundalini yoga represents the two sides of Shiva and Shakthi. Kundalini yoga aims to awaken dormant spiritual energy, known as Kundalini, coiled at the spine's base. Represented as a serpent, its awakening is believed to lead to spiritual enlightenment.

In Kundalini yoga, awakening is described as the union of Shiva and Shakthi within the practitioner. The dormant Kundalini, often represented as a serpent coiled at the base of the spine, is said to rise through the energy centers or chakras along the spine, ultimately reaching the crown chakra, leading to a state of heightened consciousness and spiritual awakening.

Shivakudumbam, or the Shiva family, is that of Shiva, who is considered as the third one, which is associated with the destruction of the universe, among the trinity for the creation, maintenance, and destruction of the manifested universe, referred to as Trimurty, i.e., Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva.

Shiva has Parvathy as his consort, Ganesha, Karthikeya, and Dharmashasta as sons, and Ashokasundari, Bhadrakali, and Jyoti as daughters. Lord Ganesha is depicted with an elephant head. Karthikeya has a spear in his hand, and he is the Commander-in-Chief or Senapathy of the army of Devas. Then, Dharmashasta, who is considered to be the son born to Shiva and Vishnu (when Vishnu took the form of Mohini), is present here at the Chowara Devi temple alongside Vettaikkaran, which was the form chosen by Shiva while testing Arjuna during his penance.

Within the Shiva Kudumbam, Ashoka Sundari, Bhadrakali, and Jyoti are considered to be the daughters of Shiva and Parvati. Ashoka Sundari is a goddess representing love and auspiciousness, while Bhadrakali is a fierce and powerful deity representing divine feminine energy, and the goddess Jyoti symbolizes the force of Brahmam, the Ultimate Reality, which lights our intellect and gives shape and form to all things and beings in the world. The term "Shiva Kudumbam" collectively refers to this divine family.

Worshipping Shiva and Parvathi together is believed to be best for marital happiness, removing marriage delays, helping young couples find an ideal spouse, and receiving boons on positive vibrations of mind, body, and soul, along with sin reduction and desire fulfillment.
