Celestial Guardians Guiding Through Obstacles, Aligning Devotees with Higher Purpose.
The Navagrahas also referred to as the "Nine Planets" in Hindu astrology and astronomy, are an important part of Hindu cosmology and are very important in both astrology and astronomy. Since their discovery in the Vedic era, these celestial objects have been known about and studied for countless years.
Navagraha, which means Nine Planets, denotes the nine Devathas that represent the nine planets considered in the conventional Bharatiya Astrology for the purpose of predictions. All the nine planets are not necessarily planets that can be found in the sky. Seven of them are physical planets and two of them, Rahu and Ketu are just mathematical points that denote the intersection of orbits of the Moon around the Earth and the Earth around the Sun. And all these nine planets are represented by the nine Devathas which have the same name as that of the planets.
The Navagraha consists of the Sun (Surya), Moon (Chandra), Mars (Mangal), Mercury (Budh), Jupiter (Brihaspati), Venus (Shukra), Saturn (Shani), Rahu, and Ketu.
Each embodies distinct qualities. Surya enhances confidence and vitality, Chandra influences emotions and intuition, Mangal governs courage and energy, Budh oversees communication and intellect, Brihaspati embodies wisdom and knowledge, and Shukra shapes love and relationships. Shani signifies discipline and responsibility, while Rahu and Ketu represent karmic influences. Praying to these celestial forces can bring glory and help ward off negativity in our lives.
People wear gemstones associated with each planet in the Navgraha to limit misfortune and embrace a victorious life. These include Ruby (Manikkam) for the Sun (Surya), Pearl for the Moon (Chandra), Red Coral (Moonga stones) for Mars (Mangal), Emerald (Maratakam) for Mercury (Budh), Yellow Sapphire (Pukhraj Stone) for Jupiter (Brihaspati), Diamond (Vajram) for Venus (Shukra), Blue Sapphire (Neelam) for Saturn (Shani), Hessonite (Gomedhakam) for Rahu, and Cat’s Eye (Vaiduryam) for Ketu.
Devout worshipers frequently address the Navagrahas before addressing any other Devathas, because they are prominently revered in many temples. It is believed that the positioning of these planets at birth has an impact on an individual's destiny and potential.
